FAQ
How does an air compressor switch work?
A pressure switch is a mechanical device that relies on air pressure to control the operation of an electric air compressor. This simple mechanism completes the circuit and allows power to be supplied to the motor whenever the system pressure falls below a specified setting. The air compressor switch (often referred to as a pressure switch) continuously monitors the pressure in the storage tank. When the pressure in the storage tank drops below the starting pressure, the pressure switch closes the circuit and sends a signal to the compressor motor to start the compressor and begin compressing air. When the pressure in the tank reaches the stop pressure, the pressure switch will open the circuit, cut off the power supply and the compressor will stop working.
The working process is as follows:
1. When the compressor starts to work, the pressure inside the air storage tank increases gradually.
2. When the pressure reaches the preset stop pressure point, the pressure switch breaks the circuit and the compressor stops.
3. As the air tool is used, the pressure in the tank decreases.
4. When the pressure drops to the preset start pressure point, the pressure switch closes the circuit and the compressor restarts.
This cyclic process ensures that the compressor delivers compressed air when it is needed, while avoiding over-compression that could result in equipment damage or wasted energy.
